This is GreenLamp

GreenLamp is a non-profit organization founded in November 2012 to support projects promoting the human rights of women and girls, inspired by the African proverb:

"...if you educate a woman, you educate a community"

Our vision is to strive for a bright future for women and girls.

Prevent and improve

From 2012 to 2017 our strategy is to support projects with local partners that improve delivery conditions in rural Ethiopia and thereby preventing birth traumatic injuries, e.g. fistulas. Birth traumatic injuries cause immense mental and physical suffering. The prevention of such injuries enables affected women and girls to live their life in dignity.

GreenLamp has according to the strategy been able to raise funds for supporting two important projects: Education of midwives and Light for life – Solar Suitcase project.

Midwives as role models

Our goal is to achieve significant behavioral changes by encouraging mothers to give birth at the nearest health center where they have access to the professional support of a certified midwife and light at night. Both projects have a great impact on improving delivery conditions as well as strengthening the position of midwifes as role models by promoting female initiative and community development.
