Since 2012, GreenLamp has been working to create a brighter future for women and their communities in rural Ethiopia.
Through our holistic Learn | Light | Lead approach, we support young women to become skilled and compassionate midwives, equip rural health centres with sustainable solar power, and strengthen midwives as leaders and role models in their communities.
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, partners and volunteers, GreenLamp has achieved meaningful impact:
💚 84 midwifery scholarships funded
💡 333 solar systems installed in rural health centres
👶 Over 1.7 million deliveries supported with solar lighting
🌍 Around 2.3 million women reached through access to quality maternal healthcare, skilled midwives and solar lighting
🤝 A network of 300+ Hamlin midwives supported through professional development and peer exchange
📚 272 midwifery students trained in leadership and communication skills
Behind every number is a mother giving birth in safer conditions, a midwife able to work with confidence, and a community with better access to maternal healthcare.
